// how does the ecosystem work?

An integrated system working in harmony

The integrated smart shelters run on an operating model that links animal production with energy, water, feed, technology and research and development in one connected system. Its components exchange resources and data, improve operating efficiency, reduce waste and turn outputs into extra opportunities.

From resource management and shelter operation, through feeding, caring for and monitoring the herd, to processing products and managing waste, each stage supports the next, strengthening production efficiency and operating sustainability.

The system starts with what the farm needs before the herd: solar power for everything, desalinated water for drinking and irrigation, and feed produced on site from sprouted barley, silage and protected houses, so costs are not tied to a long supply chain.

What does this cycle achieve?

Healthy products

Individual tracking per head, documented vaccination and vet checks, an ID card before exit, and a transparent, monitored abattoir.

Higher quality

A uniform ration from fresh feed, genetic selection, a climate-controlled environment and birth barns that protect lambs.

Competitive prices (goal)

Lower feed, energy and water costs by producing them on site, recycling waste and cutting middlemen from farm to store. A design goal; figures are not published before approval.

Sustainability

Renewable power, reused treated water, and biogas and organic fertiliser from waste.

Connecting resources, production and reuse

The project seeks to connect resources, production and reuse within a single ecosystem, gradually reducing reliance on external resources and improving operating efficiency as implementation progresses.
